(20/20) Time with Grandma....

(19/20) Our huge sandbox....

s

Last year, Savannah put in a sand volleyball court....it's great...the ends are finished with faux bricks, there's a built in net...perfect for a summer game of volleyball. The only problem is...no one ever uses it for volleyball because there's always little people digging in it. Yes, it has become a huge sandbox for the kiddos. Avery loves to dig there...we haul buckets and shovels, usually meet a few friends along the way...and enjoy some fun in the sun. Now, we just need to get Savannah to ditch the idea of volleyball, put an awning over it (there is no shade and it's like sitting in the middle of a desert) and call it a day!!

(18/20) Basketball...Bubba Style............

One of Weston's favorite spots in Savannah is the covered basketball court. There's always kids to play with...and it's great to have a shaded area to play on. Over Memorial week-end we walked up to the park to let him play for awhile, while Doug and I watched in the shade...it's already hot out there folks!!

(17/20) Wranglers new do....

Doug and I decided to start grooming Wrangler ourselves....so this week-end we sat him on a cooler... we each sat on milk crates...Doug held him and I did the shaving. It was quite an ordeal, we had let him go way longer than we should have and he was full of mats but....he actually turned out much better than we thought. At least better than he's looked the past 2 weeks when I took the scissors to half of him...at least he's even now.

(16/20) Love this picture (and this face)......

15/20) Hoopin' it up, Sister Style....

Avery's been practicing for quite some time...knowing once the pool opened...it's hoopin' time baby. Whenever they host an event with a DJ, there's always a hula hoop contest, and she couldn't wait to show off her mad hoopin' skillz.

So, when we arrived at the pool and saw that pile of hula hoops laying in the corner, waiting for a group of girls to start twirling and spinning, she couldn't wait.

So, she whirled, spun and hooped with her girl H, but unfortunately we had to leave before the actual contest because, as you can see, a storm was brewing. Avery had no worries though, she's in it for the fun, not the prizes....and a good time was had by all!!

(14/20) Memorial Day in Savannah....

On Saturday, we celebrated Memorial Day with the opening of the pool in Savannah. There was a DJ, Bar-B-Q sandwiches served on the porch of the clubhouse, watermelon...and rain! We had a great time but had to pack up rather quickly due to dark clouds and rain showers.

The kids enjoyed swimming for about 2 hours while Doug and I sat and enjoyed visiting with neighbors (it's still a tad bit chilly for me to swim :)

The Boy Scouts posted the flag and introduced all service men/women who were celebrating with us that day. One man had served one tour in Iraq and was scheduled to go back on Tuesday. As always, I am truly blessed to be able to raise my children in a country where they are safe, have health-care, opportunity for education and can grow up to follow their dreams...whatever they may be.

(13/20) Yellow Belt...

Last Saturday, Weston tested for his Yellow belt in Karate. He's been going to class twice a week and practicing very hard to reach this goal.

First, they stretched and got warmed up and ready to go.....

The judges were in place.....

and Action......

Weston did a great job...going through all his moves and only making one mistake. Good job Buddy!! Now comes the presentation of the Yellow belt...

Off with the old, and on with the new....

For some reason, in this picture it looks like he's about to punch his instructor...not a good idea young grasshopper....his teacher is a mega-blackbelt...don't go there boy!!

Everyone did a great job and Doug made it though the day....we gained a yellow belt and lost 2 pairs of shoes...not to shabby, eh?

My two favorite Ninjas!!

(12/20) Skating Lessons....

Our sweet neighbor D-man offered to give Avery in-line skating lessons. At first, he was going to charge me $.50/hour....when he saw that Avery couldn't stand up by herself, let alone move wearing her sassy pink skates...the price went up to $3.00/hour.

After agreeing on a price, D-man carefully thought out his strategy for teaching Avery. Hmmmm...what to do with this student wearing pink skates???

Ah-ha....he came up with a brilliant plan. Have Avery hold the bike and use it for support while she skooted back and forth across the porch...perfecto!!
And....he wouldn't have to touch a (~shudder~) girl (~shudder~).

For some reason D-man seems a mite itchy in these pictures??

The plan worked perfectly for a time or two...then, according to D-man..."she gave up". She probably spotted a butterfly or a ladybug, or saw one of her girly friends heading up to the house. Sorry D-man...that's just how girls roll, my friend. So, he came to collect his $$$, but luckily for me was willing to accept a bag of cheetos in lieu of cash. My account is marked "paid in full" and Avery lives to skate another day.
