Tomorrow...

Tomorrow is Weston's first day of 4th grade and Avery's first day of 2nd. We have our clothes picked out, new backpacks (one camo--one Hannah Montana), new shoes and new lunch boxes. We've met the teachers, filled out PTA and volunteer forms, put new school supplies in new desks and checked class rosters...we've seen old friends and even met new ones. It's time....I'm always excited to see my kids go back to school. I'm ready, they're ready...yet it's still not easy. It's one more step away...away from me, away from being babies, then toddlers, then preschoolers...elementary school today...junior high tomorrow and before I know it...they're teenagers. We talked tonight about letting them walk to and from school...we're literally a small field away...we can see the school from the end of our street. But really, walk, they are much to young. But, not really....and that's the hard part for me...they're not to young...yesterday they were, today they're not...I miss them already!

Go Cowboys!!!

On Friday, Avery spent the night with Grandma and Doug and Weston went to the Cowboys Game. Aunt Karen won tickets from work and, being the great aunt that she is, invited Weston and Doug to go with her and Uncle Paul. It was Weston's first professional game and he was very excited (is it time to go yet mom...what about now...can we leave now!!!) They had a fantastic time...came how sweaty and tired, with a new football and Cowboy blinky star in hand...and made some great memories!! And...the Cowboys won!!! Thanks Aunt Karen...you rock!!

It's time to go back to school....

I think my kids are bored. They've resorted to filling bowls (all my large mixing bows, that is) with water and placing random items in them to freeze...those items include a piece of bread, marbles, small cars and ALL my forks!! My freezer is full of experiments. When they are frozen they put them on my NEW kitchen table, arm themselves with hammers, screwdrivers and pliers...and bang, pound and chip away. At least they are well protected...each was wearing goggles from the swim bag and holding the ice with an oven mitt!! Eleven days and counting till school starts...I hope we make it!!
