Today was perfect....we slept in then got up and got busy cleaning up the house. Doug's Mom and Dad showed up after church to cook steaks and enjoy lots of chocolate for dessert....pie, cake, brownies, etc. As a surprise, my Mom, sister-in-law Karen and brother Paul also came over. We had a wonderful lunch then left the Grandma's home while we took the kids (along with 3 extra kids and a few neighbors we met along the way) to the park. They boys, big and little, played baseball while the girls played on the swing and visited.

We stopped at the pond on the way back home to feed the ducks. While there, we saw a group of ducks chasing a single duck...holding it down and pecking it. Doug and Uncle Paul, with the help of 3 screeching girls, chased the ducks away several times, until K said "I wonder why the duck that's on top has that black thing sticking out"....apparently they weren't "beating up" that other duck...just some "duck lovin' going on.
The girls spent a few minutes playing in the canal...all of them slipped on the moss that grows under that water and came home with muddy pants...Doug almost went down but caught himself just in time.

Tonight, Doug is sore from too much baseball, the kids are tired after a full day of fun, we've all eaten way to much food....and my heart is full from the precious homemade cards, carefully chosen store-bought cards, sweet hugs and kisses from my kids and the wonderful surprise of my family from my husband....and the automatic broom I got is just the icing on the cupcake.
Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mom's out there...we are blessed.
