Right before Christmas, Avery was able to move from a private lesson to group lessons at the barn. She loves it because it involves a) horses and b) other girlies her age who also love horses. They get dressed up in their riding pants, boots, helmets and half-chaps and trot around the arena looking good enough to eat. In this lesson, Miss Heather had the girls going over a small jump--really just an x not much higher than the poles she's been trotting over for several weeks now....although a small x...it still was an x and Avery loved it and was very proud of herself. In the picture above you can see her sitting a 2-point over the jump.

For Christmas, she received some new riding pants and a pink halter and lead rope from Buddy..the horse you see in most of the pictures. A few days later we went to the tack store where "Buddy" had purchased these items to look for a new pair of riding boots for her. When she told the man who owned the store about "Buddy" shopping for her he quickly said "Oh, that's not uncommon....we usually see quite a few ponies in her around Christmas shopping for their girls." Loved it...he got it!! I think he may be a Grandpa. After hitting the tack store, we headed over to another store in our area that was going out of business....we scored another pair of riding pants, a helmet and half-chaps...so little miss was all geared up and ready to ride.
